About

A group of residents formed the Olive Branch Wavertree Residents Association (OBWRA) in 2013 in order to give a voice to all members of the Wavertree Community regarding the future of Manweb Playing Fields and other matters affecting the community.

It has now evolved into an association which as well as opposing a housing only development of Manweb playing fields, acts as a voice and resource for all Wavertree residents on a number of issues.

OBWRA is a properly constituted residents association and a non-political, non-profit making organisation.
Aims:

  • To provide an opportunity for the local community to have a bigger stake in the future of our area.
  • To facilitate Residents’, Young and disabled people’s achievement and involvement.
  • To strive for a clean, green and liveable community and to nurture active, healthy citizens.

Objectives:

  • To further the benefits and opportunities for residents of Wavertree, the wider community, partners and other districts and communities that the members deem appropriate.
  • To work in participation with residents, the local authority, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to provide facilities and activities in the interest of social welfare, for recreation, leisure time and education to improve the quality of life for the residents.
  • To act as a resource for Residents, Young and Disabled people by providing or facilitating the provision of advice and assistance and organising programmes of physical, educational and other activities.
  • To meet, share experiences and to develop mutual support, activities and enterprise.
  • To keep members informed of developments, activities.

In all our activities OBWRA will comply with the public sector equality duty (PSED) of the Equality Act 2010 in that, when making decisions, OBWRA will give due regard to;

  • The elimination of discrimination, harassment and victimisation
  • The advancement of equality of opportunity, and
